Claudette Griffin, daughter of founder Leo Joseph Baron, is a lifelong resident of Teulon. She and her husband, Roger have two daughters and four grand-children who also live in Teulon.

Claudette has always been involved in her community and participates in many events. She is a breast cancer survivor and the Founder & Chairperson for The Liliane Baron South Interlake Breast Cancer Support Group. Named for her mother, Liliane, who passed away in 2001 from breast cancer, the support group has members throughout the Interlake area. They raise funds through a Local Breast Cancer Support Walk & Family Fun Day that takes place in September every year. Click on above link for more information.

She is also a part of the Teulon Development Group. This group has purchased and developed a track of land for an industrial park. The intention is to attract new, clean industry to the area.

Claudette has been a full time Broker /Realtor® & Owner since 1982. This second generation business is a Boutique Real Estate practice, offering custom and personalized service.

She attributes her success to three things: her service, her support team and her market. “Let’s face it, the Interlake is a fantastic place to live and work! We have a quality of life here that’s very special.”


Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 Manitoba Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

The 2008 Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards were held at a gala dinner at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, with nearly 500 people in attendance.

Presented by the Woman Business Owners of Manitoba, the evening recognized women from across the province who are inspiring role models, current & future business leaders.

Claudette says she didn’t expect to win. “It was a tremendous thrill,” Griffin says, adding she’s “happy to represent women business owners from the region.”

She gives her community & clients the first nod for putting her where she is today. “So many families have helped me through the years,” she says. Griffin “enjoyed helping first time home buyers” find a house to start out in, and then helping the same people to move into another home years later to raise their children.

She thanks her husband, Roger and their two daughters, Angele and Cherise. “Their support has been instrumental to my success,” she says.

Griffin says the awards dinner certainly a gala event. She enjoyed the opportunity to mingle and network with so many of Manitoba’s female entrepreneurs. The level of intellect and perseverance was impressive, she says.

Accepting the nomination involved a lengthy review of Griffin’s tenure with LJ Baron Realty. Despite the work involved in submitting the nomination, she says it gave her the opportunity on her journey as an entrepreneur to reflect on the path of her career.

Griffin took over the company from her Father in 1983, and says she was initially very reluctant to start out in real estate. Her parents encouraged her along, and she flourished. “They’d be so proud of how the company’s changed and grown over the years,” Griffin says.

It takes two decades of experience to qualify for the lifetime achievement award. Griffin’s name was put forward last year, but she didn’t accept the nomination at the time.  The fact that Claudette has won this prestigious award has only motivated her to continue to strive for excellence with no signs of slowing down. “I’m really looking forward to expanding and growing,” she says.

Community Service Award

This Award is not given out every year.

The WinnipegREALTORS®  Association asks board members to nominate a colleague whom they feel has made a substantial contribution to their community. The Award is given to an individual that a committee of peers deems worthy to receive such an award. This year’s award winner truly is an inspiration to us all and worthy of receiving such recognition.

This year’s winner exemplifies the traits of a true leader. She is a hardworking Multiple Award WinningREALTOR® who has gained the respect of her peers with her professionalism and dedication to her clients. She was recently nominated for the 2007 “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award” for the Women Business Owners of Manitoba.

She is committed to education and personal growth; she travels to Toronto or Chicago 4 times a year to attend The Strategic Coach Program, of which she currently participates in the Masters Program.

In addition to selling Real Estate, she manages to find time to be involved in the lives of her children and grand children and gives back to her community.

She is a member of the Teulon District Chamber of Commerce, of which she held the Chair position for 5 years.

She is passionate about her community and is committed to its continued growth and prosperity.

As a Breast Cancer survivor herself, she is the Founding Member of the Liliane Baron South Interlake Breast Cancer Support Group. This group was created in honour of her late mother, whom she lost to breast cancer in 2001. The Liliane Baron South Interlake Breast Cancer Support Group provides emotional and monetary support to those in need. They hold monthly support meetings, as well as numerous fundraisers throughout the year, including an annual “Walk & Family Fun Day ” every September. This is a time for the community to come together to support and remember all those who came before them.
